Perhaps as a harbinger of better times ahead, the PDRA Paint & Accessories Section at the National Hardware Show® was filled with mostly upbeat reports and robust activity.

The show took place May 1-3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Retailers in attendance received a peak at new products and a chance to chat with key vendors. Exhibitors had a chance to give their best sales pitches to a quality group of attendees eager to move forward in what is hoped to be an improving economy.

The PDRA Paint & Accessories Show is part of the industry’s biggest show. In addition to paint and accessories, the National Hardware Show® also features sections for hardware and tools; housewares; lawn, garden and outdoor living; plumbing and electric; storage and organization; tailgate products; and pet products. PDRA Scholarship Awarded in Las Vegas

PDRA member Jerry Keim, Keim’s Paint Center, Rock Island, Ill., traveled to Las Vegas with his wife, Donna, to receive the PDRA $5,000 Scholarship on behalf of high school student Mary Adlfinger of Milan, Ill.

Keim is the PDRA member in good standing who nominated Mary for the award, which is generously sponsored by the National Hardware Show®. The scholarship presentation took place on May 2 on the NRHA Main Stage during the PDRA Paint and Accessories Show held in conjunction with the National Hardware Show®.

PDRA Scholarship Deadline: March 15

The deadline to be considered for the 2012 PDRA Scholarship is fast approaching. In order to be considered, the candidate’s application must be received at PDRA offices by March 15.

The 2012 PDRA Scholarship Program is generously sponsored by the National Hardware Show®. Candidates for the $5,000 scholarship award must be nominated by a PDRA member in good standing. The candidate must write a 500-word essay describing why he or she feels deserving of the award.

At the time of the application, the candidate must be at least a senior in high school and no more than 26 years of age. PDRA members will be limited to nominating two students. The candidate must pledge to use the scholarship for  vocational, college or post-college studies. (more…)

National Hardware Show Opens with a Bang

The National Hardware Show opened with a literal bang today, May 10, in Las Vegas. The show’s Senior VP and General Manager Ed Several led a group of industry dignitaries (including PDRA’s Jeff Baggaley and Bernard Rossi) in opening the show. HGTV personality Lisa LaPorta accompanied Ed in a countdown that culminated in an explosion of colorful confetti. A local marching band set the tone for the day with upbeat music played in anticipation of an upbeat and active show.

Top names from the home improvement industry are participating in the event, which runs through Thursday, May 12. The PDRA-sponsored Paint & Accessories section features an array of paint, coatings, painters’ tape, painters’ applicators, painters’ tools, equipment, decorative accessories and more.

Preview of PDRA Show at National Hardware Show®

More than 200 exhibiting companies will be showing their wares in the PDRA-sponsored Paint & Accessories section of the National Hardware Show®, taking place May 10-12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

The National Hardware Show is actually “9 Shows in 1.” In addition to Paint & Accessories, other sections include: Hardware & Tools, Homewares, Lawn & Garden World, Plumbing & Electrical, Storage & Organization, Tailgate Products, Inventors Spotlight and International Sourcing.

The Paint & Accessories section has a wealth of products in such categories as paint, stains, primers, specialty coatings, paint applicators, painting tools, caulks and sealants, painters’ tapes and adhesives, patching and repair products, tarps and drop cloths, (more…)
