PDRA presented the 2009 Top-of-the-Line Retailer Awards in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 5. PDRA Executive Vice President Dan Simon made the presentation at the PDRA Show, part of the National Hardware Show, which is taking place this week May 4-6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. A photo of the winners accompanies, taken at the PDRA Booth, is shown at right. Each winner received a plaque as well as a trip to the National Hardware Show to accept their awards in person.
Winners in the multi-store classification were:
* John & Cindy Harris, Belcaro Paint & Decorating Center, Denver, Colo., who won for their community involvement initiatives.
Winners in the single-store classification were:
* Bruce, Steven and Ellen Stark, Beacon Paint & Hardware, New York City, who won for their community involvement initiative and also for overall excellence as a single-unit store owners.
* H. Leroy and Tony Strawsburg, Brunswick Hardware, Brunswick, Md., who won for their promotional innovation of the year.
The Top-of-The-Line Retailer Award presentation was among the highlights of a day that also included seminar presentations by Justin Doak of Ecoxera on the subject of “greentailing”; Doug Stephens of Retail Prophet Consulting on the subject of social media; and renowned author and demographer Ken Gronbach on the subject of multi-culturalism.
The PDRA Show at the National Hardware Show will conclude on May 6 with several additional presentations on the PDRA Future Fair Stage.
